Prof. Vlasta Rudan, MD, PhD, Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst
With deep sorrow, we inform colleagues, training participants, members of psychotherapy associations, and friends that on August 15, 2025, Prof. Dr. Vlasta Rudan passed away. She was a long-standing member of BHIDAPA’s educational and scientific team, the leader of modules dedicated to the issues of adolescence within the European Educational Program in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, and a person who greatly supported the establishment of psychotherapy in Bosnia and Herzegovina through her active contribution to the educational development of the first generation of child and adolescent psychotherapists.
We will remember her as a teacher and guide through the themes of psychological, sexual, and social development of modern adolescence, the complex formation of identity now marked by new waves of confusion, and the intricate questions of the relationship between the individual and the group — always firmly grounded in psychoanalysis, both in diagnostics and therapeutic approaches. By extending her work beyond the borders of Croatia, where she lived and worked as a full professor at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, as a psychiatrist, and as president of the Croatian Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, she advocated for the professionalization of psychotherapy. Generations of experts she educated, as well as we, her colleagues with whom she collaborated as a mentor and friend, remain grateful to her for this legacy.
In the spirit of that friendship and support, Prof. Dr. Vlasta Rudan remains a part of the activities that BHIDAPA and the Academy of Psychotherapy in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to nurture and develop.
With heartfelt gratitude,
On behalf of the Educational Team,
Dr. Mirela Badurina, Founder and Director of BHIDAPA
