Michal Lew-Starowicz is MD, associate professor and head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Center for Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw, Poland. He is also an associate professor at the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw, Poland, and a visiting professor at the Department of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Medical Faculty of Hannover (MHH) in Germany.
Since the beginning of his scientific career, Michal Lew-Starowicz has participated in interdisciplinary research that integrates physical diseases, mental disorders and sexual functioning. His current research interests include compulsive sexual behavior, with a particular focus on neuroimaging and pharmacological research. He has published papers, books and book chapters, and also educates doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists and nurses in the field of psychiatry and sexual medicine.
Michal Lew-Starowicz is a member of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine) and a sex therapy supervisor certified by the Polish Society of Sexology. He works in the field of sexual medicine with men and women who have sexual dysfunctions, with couples and in the care of transgender people. He leads an interdisciplinary team at the Lew-Starowicz Therapy Center in Warsaw, Poland. Michal Lew-Starowicz is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and the ESSM Scientific Subcommittee on Women’s Sexual Health and Dysfunction.
