The Strasbourg Declaration is a foundational document upon which the activities of the European Association for Psychotherapy are based, aiming to establish psychotherapy as an independent and autonomous profession with compatible standards across all of Europe.

In accordance with the goals of the World Health Organization (WHO), with non-discriminatory consent valid within the framework of the European Union (EU) and intended for the European Economic Area (EEA), and in line with the principles of freedom of movement of persons and services, the undersigned agree to the following points:
- Access to education is possible through early preliminary qualifications, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.
- Psychotherapy is an independent scientific discipline, and its practice represents an autonomous and free profession.
- Education in the field of psychotherapy takes place at an advanced, qualified, and scientific level.
- A plurality of psychotherapy methods is ensured and guaranteed.
- Complete education in the field of psychotherapy includes theory, personal psychotherapeutic experience, and supervised practice. Adequate knowledge of various psychotherapy processes is required.
