Understanding sexuality in psychotherapy practice: From sensitivity to competence through a bio-psycho-social and humanistic framework

How do we recognize ourselves, personal attitudes, and others through sexuality?
How do we understand and support a client’s sexual identity when it does not fit into social norms?
How do we therapeutically respond to the shame, guilt, anxiety, and myths that shape sexual expression?
And where is the line between the therapist’s sensitivity and his professional responsibility?

We dealt with these and many other questions this weekend at the BHIDAPA Academy of Psychotherapy, through an intensive educational module on the topic: Sex, gender, sexual orientation and sexual behaviors, which was led by an internationally recognized expert, Prof. Ph.D. Michał Lew-Starowicz, MD, specialist in psychiatry, sexologist and integrative psychotherapist.

Internationality and commitment to quality

BHIDAPA Academy fosters a high level of internationality, both through the selection of lecturers and through the foundation of educational content on contemporary scientific, ethical and social standards.
Our program brings together top experts from Europe and the world, who with their knowledge, experience and dedication contribute to the development of modern, ethically aware and scientifically based psychotherapy.

We sincerely thank Professor Michał Lew-Starowicz for his exceptional contribution, expertise and inspiring leadership of this module. The education opened an important space for personal and professional reflection, deepened the exchange between the participants and further strengthened our common commitment to an integrative, humanistic and inclusive approach in psychotherapy work with clients.
