Topic of the evening: Trauma and Resilience
Date and time: Tuesday, 18 November, 5.00pm–7.30pm UK time
Facilitators: Naomi Moore and Jocelyne Quennell
Organiser: EIATSCYP
This evening, as part of the EIATSCYP initiative, creates a space for reflection on different forms of trauma, and for exploring the complex impacts and current perspectives on mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and young people.
We will address questions such as:
- protective and risk factors in childhood
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) and Benign/Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCE/BxCE) – how both negative and positive early experiences shape resilience
- the value of early intervention and prevention in therapeutic practice
- how to speak about resilience without minimising lived experiences of pain.
The format includes an introductory talk, seminar-style discussion, and small group work for peer reflection and dialogue. Naomi Moore and Jocelyne Quennell have for many years been training and supporting therapists in creative and relational approaches that are grounded in context, justice and diversity – in work with children as well as with adults.
