Theory and methodology of education in psychotherapy

Module Description:

This module provides the foundation for understanding the educational process in the field of psychotherapy through a contemporary, andragogical, and didactic framework. The focus is on the fundamentals of the teaching process, curriculum planning and structuring, teaching and assessment methods, as well as the application of educational methodology in working with adults in the context of psychotherapy education.

Special emphasis is placed on training trainers to design educational modules, facilitate experiential learning processes, structure teaching units, and integrate theoretical knowledge with practice. The module includes an analysis of contemporary educational approaches, including hybrid and asynchronous learning, as well as the application of principles of inclusivity and universal design for learning.

The module includes:

  • Fundamental principles of adult education – understanding the development of professional identity through education.
  • Curriculum planning and design – selecting content, defining objectives, and learning outcomes.
  • Teaching methodologies – experiential learning, active learning, discussion, and reflection.
  • Evaluation strategies – formative and summative methods, authentic assessment.
  • Different formats of delivering education – in-person, online, and hybrid models; synchronous and asynchronous approaches.
  • Inclusivity in education – application of universal design for learning and adaptation to different learning styles.

Assessment of Knowledge and Competencies:

The module is assessed through:

  • Presentation – presentation of an educational unit/module plan.
  • Presentation – demonstration of an educational method and its advantages in a specific context.
  • Discussion – analysis of examples of good practice and challenges in facilitating education.
