In accordance with EAP/ECP European standards, psychotherapy training programmes include mandatory clinical practice (400 hours) accompanied by continuous individual and/or group supervision (200 hours).
The clinical supervisor supports the trainee in exploring the therapeutic relationship, developing psychotherapeutic competencies, and maintaining ethical practice, with ongoing attention to the client’s wellbeing. The supervisory process benefits all members of the supervisory triad (client – therapist/trainee – supervisor), with the protection and welfare of the client as the primary criterion.
A list of recommended supervisors who meet the standards of BHIDAPA-EAPTI, EIATSCYP, EAIP, and the EAP is provided to trainees.
If a trainee wishes to engage a supervisor who is not included on the recommended list, prior approval from the training team is required.
The supervisor submits an annual report to the Programme Director on the trainee’s professional development for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th year of training.
Trainees may choose either individual or group supervision.
Note: If a trainee is already in supervision outside the recommended list, the supervisor must hold the ECP or an equivalent European certification, and the trainee is obliged to inform the training team (adi.grebovic@bhidapa.ba).
Supervision hours that meet European standards are recognised from the beginning of the training programme, provided they are duly documented through the maintenance of a professional logbook and completion of the required record forms.
