Module Description:
This module explores key aspects of sexual arousal and orgasm disorders in men and women, analysing their causes, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of psychological, biological, and contextual factors influencing sexual response and satisfaction. Through an integrative approach, students will develop the ability to assess and treat issues related to sexual arousal and orgasm, including pharmacological, behavioural, and psychotherapeutic methods.
The module includes:
- Sexual Arousal Disorders – etiology and classification of sexual arousal disorders in men and women.
- Premature Ejaculation – clinical presentation, diagnosis, risk factors, and contemporary treatments (behavioural techniques, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy).
- Delayed Ejaculation – neurobiological, psychological, and relational factors; treatment approaches.
- Hypersexual Disorder – clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic models for treating compulsive sexual behaviour.
- Impact of Individual, Partnership, and Social Factors on Sexual Disorders – the role of culture, beliefs, sexual education, early experiences, and expectations.
- Interdisciplinary Approach to Treatment – connection with sexual medicine, neurology, endocrinology, and psychotherapy.

Competencies
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
a) Recognise and perform differential diagnosis of sexual disorders.
b) Apply therapeutic interventions when working with clients with sexual dysfunctions.
c) Integrate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic methods in the treatment of sexual disorders.

Assessment of Knowledge and Competencies:
The module is assessed through:
– Written assignment – Clinical case analysis and proposed interventions.
– Practical presentation – Overview of literature and therapeutic strategies.
– Oral exam – Evaluation of knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders.
