3 ECVET/ECTS / EQF Level 7 / 1st year of study
Module Description:
This module explores the epidemiological aspects of sexual health, including the classification, diagnosis, and etiology of sexual disorders. The focus is on understanding the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions, paraphilias, and gender incongruence, as well as identifying factors influencing sexual health, including biological, psychological, social, and cultural determinants. The module also covers the analysis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and reproductive health, aiming to integrate prevention and treatment into clinical practice.
The module includes:
- Classification and Diagnosis of Sexual Health Disorders – an overview of classifications according to DSM-5 and ICD-11, including sexual dysfunctions, paraphilias, and gender incongruence.
- Epidemiology of Sexual Health – prevalence and distribution of sexual disorders in different populations, risk factors, and protective factors.
- Etiology of Sexual Dysfunctions – biological, psychological, and socio-cultural factors in the development of sexual disorders.
- Factors Affecting Sexual Health – the role of hormones, neurotransmitters, stress, psychopathology, and interpersonal relationships in maintaining and disrupting sexual health.
- Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Reproductive Health – prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of STIs, and their impact on sexual and reproductive health.
