Clinical Diagnostics and Psychotherapeutic Assessment of Children and Adolescents

Module Description:

This module provides a fundamental understanding of clinical diagnostics and psychotherapeutic assessment of children and adolescents through the integration of developmental, neuropsychological, and relational factors. The focus is on identifying the individual needs of the child, recognising symptoms, applying diagnostic tools, and formulating a therapeutic plan.

The module includes:

  • Basics of Clinical Assessment – principles of structured and semi-structured assessment in work with children and adolescents.
  • Differential Diagnosis – distinguishing developmental variations, emotional difficulties, and clinical disorders.
  • Psychodiagnostic Methods – interviews, tests, questionnaires, projective techniques, and observation.
  • Integrative Assessment Approach – viewing the child through the bio-psycho-social model.
  • The Role of Family and Environment – the importance of contextual factors in assessing the child’s mental health.
  • Ethical Aspects of Clinical Diagnostics – confidentiality, informed consent, and working in the best interests of the child.
