On May 29, in the premises of the BHIDAPA Academy of Psychotherapy, we had the opportunity to host a group of excellent second-year psychology students from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, with the support and initiative of Dr. sc. Katarine Mišetić, assistant in the course Developmental Psychology.
dr. sc. Katarina Mišetić wrote in the announcement: “They are a great group, very perceptive, curious and inspiring, so I believe they will have many questions.” And she was right.
The students were welcomed and the meeting was led by Dr. sc. Mirela Badurina, integrative psychotherapist for children, youth and adults.
In addition to answers to questions concerning the daily practice of working with children and families, the conversation naturally touched on different psychotherapy modalities, their specificity, applicability and significance for individualized and group approach.
The meeting did not have a formal lecture structure. It was a lively, structured dialogue on the key topics of our daily work. These are just some of the questions and topics that emerged from our shared dialogue:
- What challenges do children and adolescents most often face?
- What does the process of psychological assessment and intervention look like within the BHIDAPA approach?
- How do we involve parents and family members in the therapeutic process?
- How do we approach working with trauma in children and youth?
- What strategies do we use to protect therapists when working with difficult topics?
- What methods and techniques do we most often apply in working with children and working with adults?
- What education and professional paths are recommended for students who want to work in this field?
- What key competencies make a good psychotherapist for children, adolescents and adults?
- What do we do when we make mistakes? How do we learn from it and grow as professionals?
Without a single slide. Just presence, dialogue and curiosity. Although we were unable to capture the moments with a camera, what we created together does not fit in the frame. Through concrete examples, interactive work and case simulations, we opened a space for learning, exchange and joint reflection.
Thank you to the students for their wise questions, openness and professional interest. Thank you to Dr. Sc. Katarina Mišetić for her initiative, warmth and trust.
This meeting represents a continuation of our cooperation with higher education institutions, because just a few weeks earlier, on April 9, 2025, we welcomed with equal joy a group of students from the Department of Pedagogy, General Pedagogy and Special Pedagogy, also from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo.
The visit at that time was aimed at understanding adult education in practice, through direct contact with the space, program and philosophy of the Academy, where the students, in the words of Prof. Dr. Sc. Mirjana Mavrak, recognized not only the importance of andragogical principles in the work of the Academy, but also a meeting that represents a turning point in connecting education and real professional life.
The BHIDAPA Academy of Psychotherapy hereby once again happily confirms its openness to further promote the idea of a learning society, through real, professional and inspiring meetings in its space.
