Lejla Mustoo Başer is a clinical psychologist, integrative psychotherapist, and Doctor of Psychological Sciences (PhD). She is employed at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) as an Assistant Professor, with teaching experience in research methods, introduction to psychology, early development, adolescent psychology, adulthood and aging, educational psychology, social psychology, positive psychology, and personality psychology.
She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, congresses, and symposia. She is the author and co-author of scientific papers and book chapters in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, and medicine, with publications in reputable journals such as Frontiers in Psychology and Elsevier – Addictive Behaviors Reports. She also has experience serving as a peer reviewer for journals including Frontiers in Psychology, Psihologija, and Epiphany: Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies.
Her research interests include psychotherapy, marital dynamics, adolescence, education, aging processes, metacognition, and schizophrenia. She places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches, including the integration of physics, synergetics, and complexity science into psychology and psychotherapy—an approach that also forms a core part of her doctoral dissertation. By combining psychotherapeutic practice with nonlinear modeling through the Synergetic Navigation System (SNS), she contributes methodologically to the understanding of relational dynamics and processes of therapeutic change.
She completed her training in Integrative Psychotherapy as part of the first generation of integrative psychotherapists for adults in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Academy for Psychotherapy, BHIDAPA (EAPTI – European Accredited Psychotherapy Training Institute). Her psychotherapeutic experience has been gained through work with students, adults, and individuals in later stages of life. She practices psychotherapy in her own private practice, providing individual and couples psychotherapy in Bosnian and English.
She is also involved in the Core-ed Academy Project, co-funded by the European Union through the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), focusing on the promotion of inclusion and shared values in juvenile justice through corrective pedagogy and specialized professional development.
