Through systems, relationships and experience, deepening the understanding of the Self

The module “Development of the Self through a Systemic Approach”, held from October 3 to 5, 2025, opened space for a deeper understanding of the complex processes of personality development and the relational dynamics that shape the self.

Under the expert guidance of Prof. Mila Goldner-Vukov, MD, PhD, psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and systemic family psychotherapist, students explored the ways in which family, social, and cultural factors influence the emotional, cognitive, and relational development of the individual.

Throughout three days of work at the Academy, students engaged with both theoretical content and experiential learning methods, as they:

  • analyzed developmental phases of the self and their transitions,
  • explored the influence of systems and relationships on the formation of identity,
  • distinguished between the development of identity and the development of the self,
  • recognized transgenerational and intergenerational patterns and the dynamics of family relationships,
  • and examined the importance of applying a systemic approach in therapeutic practice.

A distinctive value of the module lay in experiential learning through music, drawing, movement, and both group and individual work, which enabled students to establish a deeper connection with themselves, their emotions, and inner processes, as well as with the group as a supportive system.

Throughout the learning process, students demonstrated a high level of engagement, reflection, and openness, integrating new knowledge and strengthening their professional competences, along with a personal sense of authenticity – the very foundations of integrative therapeutic practice.

Through experiential and relational learning, they developed a deeper understanding of themselves and others, recognizing how systemic relationships shape development and transformation.
In this way, the module reaffirmed the importance of the systemic approach in understanding the self, relationships, and the processes of personal and professional growth.

At the BHIDAPA Academy for Psychotherapy, our meetings are not merely educational, they are living experiences of growth, exchange and togetherness.

The photo gallery captures moments of creativity, interaction, and reflection, illustrating the power of experiential learning and authentic connection among students.

“The self does not develop in isolation, but within the relationships that shape us.”

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Professor Dr. Mila Goldner-Vukov for an inspiring module and for sharing her valuable insights with the students of the BHIDAPA Academy.

With appreciation,
The Team of the BHIDAPA Academy for Psychotherapy
