Module Description:
This module focuses on understanding and applying the principles of group dynamics in the educational context of psychotherapy. It develops skills for facilitating experiential groups, leading educational processes in groups, and managing interactions arising from group processes. Special attention is given to the trainer’s role in maintaining a safe and supportive educational environment.
The module links theoretical knowledge of group dynamics with practical skills in facilitation and supporting the development of educational groups, integrating ethical, communication, and reflective aspects of work. It covers different facilitation styles, elaboration of group development stages, and interventions in challenging situations.
The module includes:
- Fundamentals of group dynamics and group development stages.
- The role and responsibility of the trainer in facilitating the group process.
- Creating a safe and inclusive educational space.
- Managing interpersonal relationships and conflict situations within the group.
- Facilitation styles and communication strategies.
- Reflective practice and monitoring of group processes.
Learning Outcomes
Competencies:
By the end of the module, participants will be able to:
a) Facilitate group processes in an educational context.
b) Recognise and manage different stages of group development.
c) Apply ethical and communication principles in facilitation.
Knowledge:
By the end of the module, participants will have acquired:
a) Theoretical knowledge in the field of group dynamics and educational facilitation.
b) Insight into psychological processes and interpersonal relationships within an educational group.
c) Understanding of the trainer’s role as a facilitator and model of professionalism.
Skills:
By the end of the module, participants will have developed:
a) The ability to facilitate theoretical and experiential group processes.
b) Skills in managing group dynamics and adapting interventions.
c) The capacity for reflection and analysis of group interactions.
Assessment of Knowledge and Competencies:
The module is assessed through:
- Presentation – Demonstration of group process facilitation through a live demonstration or simulation.
- Presentation – case analysis of facilitating a challenging group situation.
- Discussion – self-evaluation and reflection on one’s own facilitation style.
