Individual sexual therapy and comorbidity

Module Description:

This module provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of individual sexual therapy, analysing the connection between sexual dysfunctions and somatic and mental disorders. It considers key factors influencing sexual function, including psychological, neurobiological, and social aspects. The module offers an integrative approach to treating individual sexual problems through the application of cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, and body-oriented techniques.

The module includes:

  • Principles of Individual Sexual Therapy – when and how to apply the individual approach
  • Sexual Dysfunctions and their connection with psychiatric and somatic disorders
  • The impact of depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and psychosis on sexual health
  • Neurobiological factors and the impact of medication on sexual function
  • Somatic Factors – chronic illnesses, hormonal imbalances, neurological disorders, and their connection to sexual functions
  • Psychotherapeutic Models and Treatments for individuals with sexual dysfunctions and comorbidities
  • Techniques for conducting individual sex therapy and counselling – adapting treatment to the specific needs of clients
