Personal Development Profile

Module Description:

This module is focused on awareness and structuring of the therapist’s personal developmental profile through self-reflection, analysis of personal experiences, and professional development. The emphasis is on deepening the understanding of one’s own internal processes, emotions, and behavioural patterns to enable the therapist to lead therapeutic processes authentically and consciously. The module integrates psychodynamic, phenomenological, and neurobiological perspectives, allowing participants to build a professional identity through awareness of their own internal resources and limitations.

The module includes:

  • Exploration of Personal Development Path – analysis of key life experiences, relationships, and behavioural patterns.
  • Self-Reflection and Introspection – developing the ability to observe one’s own emotions, reactions, and unconscious processes.
  • The Role of Personal Experiences in Forming Therapeutic Identity – integrating personal history into professional development.
  • Development of Emotional Resilience – strategies for coping with stress, countertransference, and challenges in therapeutic practice.
  • Recognising Personal Limitations and Vulnerabilities – working on awareness of unconscious patterns that may affect therapeutic work.
  • Personal Development and Professional Boundaries – balancing the personal and professional roles of the therapist.
  • Individual Plan for Personal and Professional Development – structuring goals for further growth and development in psychotherapy.

Learning Outcomes:

Competencies
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
a) Develop awareness of their own emotional processes and their impact on therapeutic work.
b) Identify key personal experiences that shape the therapist’s professional identity.
c) Structure an individual development plan through a reflective approach to personal and professional challenges.

Knowledge
By the end of the module, students will have acquired:
a) Understanding of the impact of the personal developmental profile on psychotherapeutic practice.
b) Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of self-reflection and introspective work in psychotherapy.
c) Knowledge of strategies for emotional resilience and burnout prevention in therapeutic work.

Skills
By the end of the module, students will have developed:
a) The ability to keep a reflective journal and analyze personal developmental experiences.
b) The skill of recognizing and functionally using countertransference reactions in the psychotherapeutic process with a client.
c) The competence for continuous personal and professional development through awareness of their own emotional processes.

Assessment of Knowledge and Competencies:

The module is assessed through:
– Writing the therapist’s personal development profile
– Reflective journal and analysis of key developmental experiences
– Presentation of the individual development plan to a mentor or supervisor
