Module Description:
This module provides practical guidelines for creating and implementing therapeutic plans and interventions tailored to the individual and contextual factors affecting the mental health of children and adolescents. The focus is on identifying specific developmental, emotional, and social challenges, and selecting effective and targeted therapeutic methods. The module enables participants to develop competencies for structured planning, evaluation, and adaptation of the therapeutic process.
The module includes:
- Developing a Therapeutic Plan – setting therapeutic goals in accordance with the individual needs of the client.
- Specific Difficulties in Children and Adolescents – anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, trauma, separation anxiety, challenges in social interaction, and self-esteem.
- Contextual Factors – the influence of family, school, and social environment on the therapeutic process.
- Integrative Approach in Selecting Therapeutic Interventions – combining cognitive-behavioural, somatic, expressive, and relational methods.
- Work with Parents and Support Systems – strategies for involving family and school in the therapeutic process.
- Assessment and Evaluation of Therapeutic Interventions – how to adapt the therapeutic plan based on the client’s progress.
Learning Outcomes:
Competencies
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
a) Create a therapeutic plan tailored to the specific needs of children and adolescents.
b) Understand the impact of contextual factors on mental health and the therapeutic process.
c) Apply therapeutic interventions based on an integrative approach.
Knowledge
By the end of the module, students will have acquired:
a) Knowledge of methods for assessing individual and contextual factors in therapeutic work.
b) Understanding of different therapeutic modalities and their application in work with children and adolescents.
c) Awareness of the importance of systemic support and multidisciplinary collaboration in the therapeutic process.
Skills
By the end of the module, students will develop:
a) The ability to create and adapt therapeutic plans.
b) The skill to select and apply appropriate therapeutic interventions.
c) Competence to evaluate client progress and adjust the therapeutic approach accordingly.
Assessment of Knowledge and Competencies
The module is assessed through:
– Practical exercises in developing therapeutic plans and their adaptations
– Case analysis focusing on specific challenges in therapy
– Group discussion on the application of different therapeutic approaches
